We had a get together on 10th of Jan 2009, over Lunch at Madukarai, where we conducted an auction. The objective was to raise fund for certain charitable organization (An Orphanage in Ukkadam). We had a great time, as this was an excellent idea of helping poor and needy, in the new year. The way this auction worked is this: Whoever interested is to bring something. The starting price would be fixed by the person who brought the stuff who should also give a small talk about it. Others would bid and the winner would take the material, donate the money to the pool that will be given to the charitable organization.

Many of us thought that we could just donate the money but this event truly rocked. The energy level was great regardless of the fact that this is right after a heavy lunch :) I wanted to thank my colleagues who greatly contributed and made it totally worthwhile. It was an opportunity to remember those that are not as privileged as we are while having a fun-filled great team activity. Something that other IT companies (and those in other industries) would want to follow in these tough times.
